King of Kings

How to approach the King

Let me start by saying that it doesn’t matter who is in the White House, Trump or Biden. God is still on the throne!!! Man is man and is imperfect. That is why we must put our trust in the only true and living God!!

King is defined as (1) the male ruler of an independent state, especially one who inherits the position by right of birth. (2) a male monarch of a major territorial unit, especially one whose position is hereditary and rules for life. King in Strong’s concordance as basileus- leader of the people, prince, commander, lord of the land.

Our King has not inherited his title by birth because before the foundation of the earth, “I AM.” He is the self-existent one (existing independently of other beings or causes). This truth may be difficult to reconcile as we know that a person is born into this earth by a woman. How can He be self-existent?

So how are we to approach the King? In the natural, we approach Kings and Queens with honor and respect. How much more so when we approach the King eternal. 1. Timothy 1:17 “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory forever and Amen.” The Father gives us instructions on how to come before Him. Psalms 100 “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless his name. Even in the book of Esther, there was a specific protocol Esther had to follow when approaching the King. At that time, a person could be put to death if they went into the inner court without being called. Esther 4:11 “ All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces, do know that whosever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.” How much more so are we to appropriately come before the King of Kings. There’s divine protocol in the Kingdom of God. We have to be mindful that although He is our Heavenly Father, He is also the creator of the world. Let us reverence His presence, give honor to His name, and always have a heart of thanksgiving, for He is worthy!

The Father desires to know you-yes you!

Let’s pray.

Father God, it’s in the name of Jesus that we approach your throne. We come to you with a heart of expectation. Father, we thank you for the opportunity to commune with you. We love you and adore you. We thank you that we no longer have to go through a priest to gain access to you! Father, we ask for forgiveness even as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. We desire to grow and look more like Jesus, who is the only way to salvation. Thank you for keeping and protecting us daily! Let us look to be a blessing and the answer to someone’s prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

It’s All A Part of The Plan

2020 is a year that I’m sure we’ll never forget. This year was filled with shock, awe, loss, and pain. Yet it was also a period in which families had the opportunity to reconnect, spend more time together, and appreciate life and each other. Even though many of us were not prepared for this year, God was. He knows the end from the beginning. Revelation 22:13 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Nothing catches Him by surprise!

The things in our lives that seemingly catch us off guard, God the Father had foreknowledge of-even our deviations from the plan. The divine design for our lives includes many twists and turns as opposed to the straight and safe path we envisioned. Life can knock you down. I know all too well. I had “a woe is me” mindset for so many years. I blamed God for many things that occurred in my life. I often asked why me, or why did you allow this to happen to me? I walked around, feeling rejected and unqualified. (still working through this) I love the adage that God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. If we could carry out His plan in our strength and wisdom, we wouldn’t need Him. God’s plan is impossible for the natural man. To fulfill His purpose, we need His SUPER on our natural to operate in the “supernatural.” Many of us believe that this walk with the Lord is free from trouble, hurt, pain, and challenges. Jesus never promised us a life without challenges. John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of cheer; I have overcome the world.” It seems easy when you’re not going through. Amid a storm, we may feel alone-but be we must remember that He said He would never leave us or forsake. “God is not a man, that He should lie, neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good.” Numbers 23:19. People may lie to us, but our Father is incapable of lying, for He is the epitome of truth.

We also have a part to play in this thing called life. Some decisions that our parents, grandparents made, and some of our choices were not a part of God’s original plan. He gave us free will (sometimes I wonder why, lol). However, even when we go off course, the Father works to get us back on track. Romans 8:28 “And we know all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” Our hurts, struggles, and pain are a part of the plan and are used to mold us into the image of His dear Son.

A close friend of mine always says, “God never wastes anything!” The loss you may have experienced, the betrayal, the hurt, the divorce, the pain will be used as an instrument to bring healing in someone else’s life. We are placed in uncomfortable positions for us to develop and grow. We’re also not ignorant of the devil’s devices, and it is our responsibility to maintain our relationship with the Lord and exercise our God given authority over the enemy.

Remember-It is all a part of the plan!!!

Let’s Pray-

Father, it’s in the name of Jesus that we come before you. Father, we first say thank you, thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace. Lord, even when we don’t have all of the answers, we trust You and know that it’s all a part of the plan. We ask that You give unto us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you. We ask that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened and that we may know what is the hope of Your calling. Lord, we want to walk worthy of You and be fruitful in every good work. Help us to put self aside and focus on You and Your will. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen.

Be blessed.

Rooted defines rooted as having roots. Root means to implant or establish deeply. The Greek word for rooted in Strong’s Concordance is rhizoo (G4492) -to cause, to strike root, to strengthen with roots, to render firm, to fix, establish, cause a person or a thing to be thoroughly grounded. In John 15, Jesus says that He is the true vine, and the Father is the husbandman. “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit….Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me”. Jesus says that I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing(no-thing). If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is cast forth withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If (is conditional which means it’s based on certain conditions or requirements made) ye abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. In the natural, a branch cannot live separate from the vine as it cannot draw the required nutrients from the source and grow. So it is in the Spirit if we are not connected to the True Vine, we are unable to tap into our spiritual nutrients, develop and produce fruit (the qualities and characteristics of the Holy Spirit). Oh-but, if we stay connected, we begin to grow. In the process of developing and bearing fruit, the Father removes the unnecessary, unlovely parts of our character so that we resemble Christ more and more.

We need to be close to the Father’s heart. With so much chaos and turmoil in this world, He is our only constant! If we are not rooted in Christ and in God’s word, we won’t be able to withstand the great shaking that is coming and is going on the world. Just look at the parable of the two builders in Matthew 6:24-27. Jesus says that those who hear/read His sayings and does them He compares them to a wise man who built their house upon a rock. When the rain came, and the floods came, the winds blew and beat upon that house. The house did not fall because it was founded on the rock. Now for the other man who built his house on sand, his outcome was different. The rain descended on the house, the floods came, the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell and great was its fall. We can’t make it in this world without God and the word of God. Death, disease, lawlessness, racial tensions and all that is happening in the world is overwhelming and if we’re not careful we can become discouraged, depressed and hopeless. But we must have our hope in Christ and in the word that is yet alive.  Let us take a look at the parable of the soils in Matthew 13:3-9. When the word is sown, it falls on different types of ground (hearts). “The sower went forth to sow. Some seed (word) fell by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them up. Some fell upon stony places where they had not much earth, and when the sun came up, they were scorched because they had no root, they withered away, some fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and chocked them out.

Other seeds fell on good ground and brought forth fruit at different levels”. Jesus explained the parable as such, when anyone hears the word and doesn’t understand it, the wicked one (Satan) comes and snatches the word away. The person who received the seed (word) into stony places hears the word and immediately receives the word with joy, but it is only temporary. He has no root, so when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, he stumbles and falls away [“abandoning the one who is the source of salvation”] AMP(Amplified Version). The one who seed was sown among thorns is the one who hears the word but the worries and distractions of the world and the deceitfulness [“the superficial pleasures and delight] of riches and chokes the word so that it yields no fruit”], AMP. The one whose seed was sown on good ground is the person who hears the word, understands and grasps it; he indeed bears fruit and yields fruit some a hundredfold, sixty and thirty. Let us be the person who receives the word on good ground. Whenever we fall off, we must pick ourselves up and run back to Jesus! Let’s stay connected.

Father, it’s in the name of Jesus that we come to you. Father, we ask that you help us stay connected to you. Lord, empower us by the Spirit to live according to Your will. Open the eyes of our heart and give unto to us a spirit of revelation into the intimate knowledge of You. Help us to see ourselves the way you see us!  We love you! In Jesus’ name.

Be blessed.

One Accord

In recent days, there’s been discord among believers about various topics from sage to yoga, causing a lot of confusion. But we know that God is not the author of confusion but peace. (1 Corinthians 14:33) We are to dwell together in unity like Paul exhorts the church of Corinth. Ephesians 4:1-6 “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. He’s urging us to walk in obedience and to remain humble. God created every one of us with unique attributes and purposes. As individuals, we will have disagreements, differences in opinions, and various ways of executing tasks. And you know what that is entirely okay and to be expected. Embrace who God created you to be. Be confident and content in your giftings and the way the Father communicates with you. Let’s NEVER compare ourselves with others. All of our journeys are tailor-made specifically for us. While it is absolutely acceptable for us not to agree on somethings, it is never okay when it comes to the things of the Spirit and the word of God! As believers, we must study to show ourselves approved, rightly dividing the word of truth, and this is how we will be able to discern what we hear and see. Don’t be deceived into believing that just because someone names the name Christ that everything that they say is Holy Spirit inspired or for that matter the word of God. People sometimes share their opinions and beliefs. I’m here to tell you that if it doesn’t line up with the word, throw it out. God is a God of relationships and flows through this type of paradigm. We must link with those who God has connected us to, for these individuals will be instrumental in our walk. We’ll need to be prayerful and discerning. It will be evident when we’ve found our “tribe” as things will mesh and flow naturally. Be quick to forgive, walk-in integrity, and cultivate those relationships.

What does with one accord mean? With one accord is the Greek word homothymadon. Homothymadon means with one mind, with one accord, with one passion. Homothymadon is a compound of two words meaning to “rush along” and in “unison.” “The image is almost musical, a number of notes are sounded, which while different, harmonize in pitch and tone. As the instruments of a great concert under the direction of a concertmaster, so Holy Spirit blends together the lives of members of Christ’s church”. (Blue Letter Bible). The church is God’s symphony, and in this type of atmosphere, Holy Spirit is at liberty to move as the Father wills.

A few examples of this are in Acts 2: 1-4, “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:42-47 “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things in common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continued daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Wow -we had it all wrong. This is the CHURCH! I personally believe that the body of Christ (church) will once again return to foundational principles and roots. Acts 5:11-12 “And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many, as heard these things. And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch. Matthew 18:19-20 “Again, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. The Father wants us to dwell in unity, and when we are unified and on one accord, He manifests Himself in our midst. Let’s aim to live peaceably as much as it is within our control.

Father, it’s in the name of Jesus (the only name by which all men can be saved) that we come to you. We ask that you give unto us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, that eyes of our understanding be enlightened that we may know what is the hope of Your calling. Father, draw us closer to You. Strengthen us to put away those things that you have required of us. Help us sew to the Spirit and not the flesh so that we can reap everlasting life. We ask Lord that you help us live lives of consistency. Empower us to walk in all that you have predestined for our lives, for you knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb. We love you in Your son Jesus’ name.

Suppose you’re reading this blog and have not received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, this is the opportune time to accept Him. Why should I accept Him, you ask? All of humanity was born in sin from the cutest baby to the oldest man living on the earth. God’s ultimate desire was to have a relationship with his creation. This foundational principle is where all other relationships are derived. In the beginning, God created man (Adam) in His image and shortly after that created woman (Eve). Adam and Eve enjoyed uninhibited fellowship with God, until one fateful day when Satan deceived Eve by causing her to doubt God’s word. And believe me, Satan is still using this tactic to this day. Adam and Eve both disobeyed God’s command and ate from a tree that they were instructed not to.

We see this behavior in children and even in adults, right? The more we are told not to do something, the more we want to do it. That right, there is the sin nature in operation. Back to Adam and Eve-when, they ignored the instructions from God, and they immediately recognized something was different about them. Instead of being excited about communicating and hanging out with their creator, they were ashamed, embarrassed, and afraid. It’s just like children when they do something that they were warned not to do and hear their parents call for them, they become frightened and, if possible, avoid interacting with their parents. But even in their disobedience, God temporarily covered their sin, but they would no longer be able to dwell in God’s presence (this happens when we sin). By this sin entered into the world and affected every person born on this earth.

I know it seems that we are without hope. Oh, but I have some good news for you. God has a plan of reconciliation for us!! He sent His only begotten son (Jesus)to earth to live among men, teach, heal and set the captives free. There are no multiple roads that lead to heaven. There is only ONE way- JESUS. Jesus is the way, the truth and the light and no one can come to the Father except through Him. You see, in God’s eyes, we are spiritual criminals and will be judged as such. However, He sent His Son, who was without sin, to take our punishment. Why? Because He wants to fellowship with His creation. He desires involvement in every aspect of our lives. Jesus was beaten, mocked, and crucified on a cross for my sins and your sins. He died, was buried, and rose again on the third day in ALL POWER!, and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father. God wants you to know that even if you believe that you are a mistake. I don’t care if your parents didn’t want you at birth. I don’t care if you grew up in foster care or a dysfunctional household. You were always in the mind of God. He knew before your parents created you. He wants to walk with you through life and reveal to you why you were created and for what purpose. YOU HAVE PURPOSE. YOU ARE IMPORTANT. YOU MATTER. GOD LOVES YOU AND WANTS TO COMMUNE WITH You-yes YOU! How can I experience that? I’m glad you asked. You must confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved.

Pray- Jesus, I’m a sinner, and I’m separated from God. I believe that you bore my sins on the cross and took my penalty for me. I believe that you died, was buried, and rose again so that I can have a relationship with God. I ask you to save me.

If you’ve prayed that prayer and are fully persuaded in your heart that Jesus is the only way and have asked Him to rescue you, we welcome you to the body of Christ. You must connect to a local body of believers who believe and practice the word of God.

Be blessed!

Do you dream? What is a dream? Dream is defined by Merriam-Webster as a series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep. Dream is defined by Strong’s Concordance (G1797) as “to dream”. Joel in Hebrew (Yo’el) means ‘YAHWEH is God”. Wow! During the time that the book of Joel was written, three things were taking place, the judgment of God’s people for their sin, the judgment of foreign nations, and finally Joel calling God’s people to a place of repentance. The Lord also prophesied of blessings that were coming to His people if they repented. What would the blessing be? It would be the promise of the Spirit. Joel 2:28- It shall come about after this That I shall pour out My Spirit on all mankind, And your sons and your daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. Even on the male and female servants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

Why are dreams so important? Dreams are important because that’s one of the ways the Father communicates with us. The major way that He speaks is through His Word (The Bible). If you are not reading the Word or are unfamiliar with His Word-The, Father is not doing much speaking to you in your Spirit. Why do I say that you ask? Jesus Himself knew the Word and even quoted to the enemy and said It is Written!  Why do you think one part of the Armor of God is the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. We must read the Word of God. And everything that the Father speaks to our Spirit will be in line with His word. (Pardon me-that was a little detour 😊) The Father provides direction, answers to prayers, and warnings through dreams. It is vital that we know the source of our dreams, as dreams can also come from the enemy and our Soul (mind, will, and emotions). Prayer (communion with the Father) is the key to dream interpretation.

The Father communicated through dreams in both the Old and New Testaments. In Genesis 20 Abraham, while journeying with Sarah because of fear, said to Abimelech that Sarah was his sister. But God warned Abimelech in a dream not to touch her. This was a warning dream. The Father also warned the Wise men by a dream that they should not return to Herod as he commanded. Matthew 2:11-12. “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. Again God provided direction and warning this time to Joseph. Matthew 2:13-And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, OUT of EGYPT HAVE I CALLED MY SON. Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, accordingly to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. God warned Joseph through a dream that he was to flee from Egypt because Herod sought to kill the promised Messiah. What is the Father warning you about in your dreams that you are ignoring that could cause your demise??

In Genesis 20:1-6. Matthew 1:18– Joseph, the stepfather of Jesus, had a dream about Mary his wife before the dream mentioned earlier. “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on the wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.” The Father was conveying to Joseph that Mary had not cheated but that the child was conceived by the Holy Ghost, and that child would be the Savior of the world! Hallelujah. He provided direction and prophesied the future hope to the world.

The Father gave Joseph (Jacob’s son) prophetic dreams and the ability to interpret dreams. The first dream God gave Joseph he prematurely shared with his brothers who were already jealous of the love his father had for him and the dreams only amplified their hatred for Joseph. Gen 37:5-11. Joseph went through many uncomfortable circumstances in His life that I believe caused Him to question the validity of His dreams. However, in God’s perfect timing, the dreams came to pass, and Joseph was able to feed the inhabitants of Egypt as well as his Father and brothers during a time of famine. Gen 42-45. What prophetic dreams is the Lord giving you?

When you dream, you must record them in a journal or a voice recorder. For one, it shows God that you’re a good steward over the message that’s He communicating. Secondly, it’s important to jot them down because there are some dreams that you will not receive the immediate interpretation for. Some dreams you won’t gain the understanding of until after it has come to pass, making the journal extremely important as a reference tool. REMINDER: WRITE YOUR DREAMS DOWN!!!

Let’s pray

Father, it’s in the name of Jesus that we come before you. We thank you for life, health, and strength. We thank you for your mercy and grace. Father, we ask that you continue to speak to us by your Spirit through your Word and through dreams. We ask for you to give us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you: that the eyes of our understanding being enlightened; that we may know what is the hope of your calling, and the riches of the glory of inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of your power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of your mighty power is. Father, we thank you for your protection, in Jesus’s name. Amen!

Is Being Used By God Enough?

Most people desire to be used by God. I know I do! It’s truly a fantastic thing for the Creator of the universe to use His creation. It brings a sense of accomplishment to know that the Father has used us. However, if we’re not mindful, it can cause us to walk in a certain level of pride. I know from experience that when you recognize that God has used you if you’re not careful, it can have you looking down on others as if you’re somehow superior. But I love my Father because only He can show you who you are and remind you that you’re not all that lol. James 4:6- But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “God is opposed to the proud and haughty, but [continually] gives [the gift]of grace to the humble [who turn away from self-righteousness].”

The Father desires to use us. We are instrumental in carrying out the plan of God on the earth. However, in the process of being used, He desires spiritual growth. He wants to develop our character! He desires to know us more intimately. Character is defined as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. Ask yourself, what are the mental and moral attributes unique to me? In Ephesians 5:8-12 (AMP) Paul inspired by the Spirit of God, pens the following text. “For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of the Light [live as those who were native-born to the Light] (for the fruit [the effect, the result]of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn [by experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [and letting your lifestyles be examples of what is acceptable to Him- your behavior expressing gratitude to God for your salvation]. Do not participate in the worthless and unproductive deeds of darkness, but instead expose them [by exemplifying personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character]; for it is disgraceful even to mention the things that such people practice in secret.” We never want to be in a place where we are comfortable with speaking, praying, prophesying on God’s behalf, but are not allowing the Spirit of God to expose and deal with the areas in our lives that are not in subjection and obedience to the Father. 1 Corinthians 9:26 “Therefore I do not run without a definite goal; I do not flail around like one beating the air [just shadow boxing] But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service]. It is imperative that we consistently yield and allow the Father to deal with those areas in our lives that we hold dear to us and don’t want to let Him near. I get it! It can be a harrowing experience to open up those wounds and confront the “man/woman in the mirror,” but as we study and meditate on the word, the Father will begin to uproot old mindsets, attitudes, and behaviors. James 1:23- “For if anyone only listens to the word without obeying it, he is like a man who looks very carefully at this natural face in a mirror, for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he immediately forgets what he looked like. But he who looks carefully into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and faithfully abides by it, not having become a [careless] listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he will be blessed and favored by God in what he does [in his life of obedience]. Let’s purpose to know God intimately (become closely acquainted; familiar, close). God wants to use us, but most importantly, we have to let God transform us. The Father is not asking for perfection! He desires to use us even with all of our imperfections. But we can’t stop there! We must strive to be more like Him!

Let’s pray.

Father, we come to you in the name of your precious Son, Jesus. We ask you to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Father empower us to live a life that is pleasing to you. Help us to allow You to deal with the painful areas in our lives so that we can mature and grow. Father, we thank you for using us to carry out Your will on the earth. We know that we can do no-thing apart from you. We thank You for loving us before we loved You. Help us to show your love to this world. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Church as usual

Webster’s dictionary defines the word ” church ” as (1) building for public worship, especially Christian worship. (2) a body of persons gathered for religious worship. The Greek word for church is ‘Ekklesia,” which means “called out” like called out from the world into His marvelous light. As a result of theCOVID 19 pandemic, many buildings have been closed to promote social distancing as a safety precaution. The world has been sheltering place and has been communicating virtually. Many believers are ready to return to church. But the question is- do you desire to return to “church” as usual?

For far too long, the body of Christ has been doing church. The Father wants us to BE THE CHURCH! The heart of the Father is souls! He’s not interested in traditions, ordinances, pretense, nor pomp and circumstance. The Father desires to equip the body-not entertain. How do you plan on going back in the building? Is it with the same mindset, the same attitude, the same old same old? I’m here to tell you that God is doing a new thing in the season! As it says in Mark 2:21-22 “No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles. What is Jesus saying here? We cannot experience the newness that God is trying to bring in our life with the same “old” system constructs, mindsets, and attitudes. Just like in the natural, we grow and mature, so it is in the Spirit. If babies didn’t grow, we would think it strange if, at three years old, a child was the size of a nine-month-old with that same level of cognitive, emotional, and physical development. But in the “church,” we see people that have been spiritual babes for 10, 20 years with no signs of spiritual growth, and no one is concerned. In Hebrews 5:12-14, it reads, “For when for the time you ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are full of age, even those who by reason of use of their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. The mandate of the body of Christ is to make disciples, not church members. The Father desires for us to be equipped to live this life for God and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

During the time of quarantine, we’ve had the opportunity to develop our relationships. We’ve had time to reevaluate some things. God has used and is using this time to draw us near to him with no distractions. He wants to sharpen our ears. Romans 8:14, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God; they are the sons of God.” The Spirit of God wants to give us direction for our life, but He also wants to use us to be a blessing in the lives of others.

Romans 12:4 “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 1 Corinthians 12:12-25 “ For as the body is one and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased Him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you……” Every member of the body of Christ has a role and a purpose. What’s yours?

The Father is birthing and raising up people in this hour with gifts, anointings, and the Word to bring forth. It is new to many in the body. We are to embrace this new move of God and allow the Spirit of God to move in our midst and outside of the four walls of the building. Open your heart. Don’t be so quick to dismiss what God is trying to move us away from. If we refuse to change we will be left behind while the body as a whole continues to progress. We have to ask the Father in sincerity to reveal the areas in our lives that require growth. We have to renew our minds daily with the word of God. Let us embrace the new! Let us get into divine alignment.

I can’t go back to church as usual! Can you?

Let’s pray

Father, it’s in the name of Jesus that we come before you. Father, we forgive those who have offended or hurt us in any way, knowing that if we don’t forgive others their trespasses, you won’t forgive ours. Help us, Lord, to walk in love by your Spirit. You said that men would know we are your disciples when we love one another. Father, we thank you for first loving us. Please help us as the body to flow with your Spirit and not resist your move. We don’t want to kick against the pricks. Holy Spirit empower us to rise up and be the church. Let us use our gifts to minister to others in the world. We ask that you increase our sensitivity to your Spirit as we cry out, not our will, but Thy will be done! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!

A Heart Issue

This year has been indescribable from the start of the year until now, from Kobe Bryant’s unexpected death, the COVID 19 pandemic to the uncovering and exposure of law enforcement executing black people. I remember speaking with Curt (my husband) and him sharing with me that he felt a shift in his spirit when the new year came in and said we have stepped into something new. I had a dream in December that I was in my apartment, and there was a storm with powerful winds that came. The wind was so strong that it blew the blinds off my windows. The strange thing was that the blind are usually inside of the apartment, but in this dream, the blinds were outside and blew off. However, once the blinds were removed, I was able to see clearly out of the window. I believe that God was showing that the winds of adversity and a turbulent time was approaching but that this adversity would allow for clearer vision and exposure.

The body of Christ knows or should know that we are in a spiritual battle. We know that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4 KJV. “For we wrestle not against Flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12 KJV. While we know this is the TRUTH, the body of Christ is called to stand up for injustices, to be the voice for those who have no voice. What does God say about injustice, you ask? We know that God is just! In Isaiah 1:17, the word says, “Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.” Proverbs 31:8-9, AMP. “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are unfortunate and defenseless; open your mouth, judge righteously, and administer justice for the afflicted and needy.” Proverbs 6:16 AMP: “These six things the Lord hates; indeed, seven are repulsive to Him: a proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that creates wicked plans, feet that run swiftly to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths], and one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers.” When Jesus walked this earth, He exposed and dealt with inequality and injustices.

In John 4:7-26, Jesus asked a Samaritan woman for a drink of water. The Samaritan woman was shocked that a Jew would talk with her because, during that time, it wasn’t customary for the Jews to interact with whom they considered “ half breed.” Jesus is the great example. He defied the religious precepts that were set in place and displayed equality. God exposed Peter’s heart and his racist mindset when He directed Him in a vision to go to the house of a gentile (non-Jew). Peter had a lofty mindset. He believed that the Jews, being the chosen people, could not associate with the likes of those people. When he decided to obey God and go to the house of Cornelius (gentile), he had a revelation that God was no respecter of persons; but in every nation he that feareth Him and worketh righteousness is accepted with Him. Acts10:34-35.Now we know that if anyone prayed (communed with God), we know that Jesus prayed. Jesus also put action behind his prayers. We know that faith without works is dead. James 2: 26, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” Church rise up! Deal with the enemy in the Spirit but also use your voice, your resources in the natural to call out racism, discrimination, and inequality as Jesus would. We must address police brutality as the police are the biggest gang in the world. Elected officials must be held accountable!

Why is all of this turmoil in the world? Why are people murdered? Why are people hated without a cause? Are you ready for the answer-you may not be! It’s a sin issue! A heart issue! “The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is extremely sick; who can understand it fully and know it’s secret motives? I, the Lord, search and examine the mind, I test the heart, to give each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds.” Jeremiah 17:9-10, AMP. “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings for evil. For out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45 NJKV. The only hope for this world is GOD. Seek Him while He may be found. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:17 NJKV. I implore you today cry out for salvation, for now, is the time. He is knocking at the door of your heart, will you open? Allow God to replace the stony heart with one of flesh. We continue to pray for repentance for this world! Rest assured, God is just, and while we may not understand all that is happening. God is still on the throne! Judgment day is coming, and justice will be served in accordance with their deeds. My prayer for you is that you be spared from the wrath to come. It’s a heart issue, a sin issue.

Let’s pray- Father, it’s in the name of Jesus that we come before you. Father people are tired, confused, scared, and hopeless. I ask that you restore hope to the body of Christ and the world as a whole. Father, we ask that those in positions of leadership in the “church” will continue to speak out against the injustices of this world, letting it be known Your heart concerning the matter. Father, help us to love as you love, empower us to rise up and to carry out the mandate and calling that you have placed on our lives. Father, we are not ignorant of the enemy’s devices. We know that he is sowing discord and chaos as he is the author of confusion. We take our place and fight in the Spirit. We ask you to cover and protect us, Lord. We thank you that you will continue to expose the corruption and wickedness and that people will be held accountable for their deeds. I cry out for repentance! Father, I pray that you deal with the hearts of people. We know that as a man sows that shall he also reap. We thank you for justice. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!

Love your neighbor❤️

Matthew 5:43-48 You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Wooooww reading the following, I’m like help, Lord. I’m not sure if you’re anything like me, but when I read this scripture, my flesh cringed as I had to come to terms with the truth of God’s word. Our natural reaction to someone who does us wrong, who mistreats us, who curse us, gossip about and use us is to either desire to tell them off, tell them off or cut them off! Lol. Well, let me tell you I’m so used to cutting people off that I could’ve been called the cut off queen. Sometimes it’s necessary to disconnect from certain people-but realistically we cannot self-isolate and be a proverbial “island” all to ourselves. This is difficult for me because let’s say I’m pretty awkward in relationships. Due to past experiences and insecurities, I would instead retreat and disconnect rather than confront, deal with the issues, and move forward if possible. However, God has given us specific instructions on how to respond to those we would “consider enemies.” Let’s be reminded when we deal with others that we were once enemies of God but by the grace of God we are reconciled. Romans 5:10 “For, if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” Let’s change our perspective and our vision. Let’s begin to look at people not as our enemies but as an opportunity to show the love of God just like Jesus has taught and continues to show us daily. While this is painful to the flesh, it is beneficial to our spirit. Let’s strive to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Let’s make a decision today to push past our feelings and flesh and put the word into practice.

Let’s pray:

Father, it’s in the name of Jesus that we come before you. Lord, we ask that you strengthen us with might in the inward man. Father help us be mindful of our shortcomings so that we can extend grace to others. Give us the wisdom to know when to disconnect and when it is necessary to grow through relationship. Father, we love you and are grateful for the sacrifice of your Son while we were yet your enemies. Cause us to see our “enemies” as an opportunity to show your love as we may be all the Christ that some people will ever see. We thank you for your love, grace, and mercy in Jesus’ name. Amen!

How to relate to the Father

What are the characteristics of a Father? A Father is protective, affectionate, a wall of trust and security, the source of encouragement, patient. Someone who provides the necessities of life, a good disciplinarian, supportive, loyal, and shows unconditional love.

Many of us have a strained or non-existent relationship with our earthly father. Some of us may not even know who our father is. I wasn’t fortunate enough to grow up in a two-family household and experience the ”love of a father” that many daughters yearn for.To add insult to injury, my mother passed away at a young age. I “knew” my father, he was involved in my life to a certain point, but due to life choices, he ended up serving 27 years in prison. As a result, he missed most of my life experiences, i.e., .birthdays, graduations, my wedding, and the birth of my daughter. So it’s no surprise that when I gave my life to God the Father, I didn’t know how to relate to Him and guess what I’m still learning. I still struggle with receiving love because I don’t know how to receive compliments and unconditional love from people. I’m guarded. I have difficulty trusting people, as I often feel like people have hidden agendas. I know, I know it may sound crazy, but it’s my truth. I can say that I’m growing in the area of trust, and it’s because I’m learning how to trust my heavenly Father. I can assuredly say that I know He has my best interest at heart and wants what’s best for me. I don’t have to question His motives. For his words says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) There is good news for you!! Even if you have a strained relationship, no relationship or may not even know who your biological father is. GOD, the Father, loves you unconditionally. So much so that He sent His son JESUS to bear my sins, your sins the world’s sins, in our stead. The Father wants a relationship with you-yes you. Just as He wanted one with me, this Father will never disappoint you, loves you despite your mistakes, and will care for you like a Father is supposed too. Will you let Him?? I promise you this is one decision in life that you will never regret, and from a union with Him will all other relationships flow. He helped me with bitterness that I felt towards my father and mother (who I felt left me). As I continue to grow closer to God the Father, it is fostering growth in my relationship with my earthly father, and I’m grateful that we still have the opportunity to get to know one another on a deeper level. Now, if you can’t reconcile with your earthly father, understand that you are not a mistake!! That person was just the vessel that GOD the Father used to bring you into this world. You were created on purpose and for a purpose. Connect with the Father to find out what that is. He’s waiting on you, and I’ll be praying for you!!

Let’s pray: Father, it’s in the name of your son JESUS that we come before you. Father, we thank you for life, as many have transitioned as a result of this pandemic. Thank you for keeping us. Father, we don’t have all of the answers, so we put our trust in you. We ask for you to heal the brokenhearted, comfort those who need comfort, love on those who need love. Help us to release the reigns of control over our lives and cry out to you. Help us to know you as Father, the Father that loves us unconditionally. The Father that wants the best for us. The Father that wants to commune with us. For those who don’t know you, I pray that they reconcile to you and began to heal and began to tap into their GOD given purpose. Father, I ask for you to continue to protect and keep us. We love you, and trust you! In JESUS’ name, we pray. Amen.
