Bleeding Heart

Quite often this term “bleeding heart” is used as an insult towards individuals who seem to be overly compassionate and forgiving. While in my opinion, we as Christians should be the most compassionate, merciful and loving people, within reason. We are not called to be doormats or unwise but we are called to be Christ like.

It baffles my mind to see Christians who are so callous, cold, unloving and judgemental, the polar opposite of Christ. We wonder why people are leery of God. Most of the apprehension stems from our poor representation of Him. Christ is the epitome of love. He came in the flesh to be the sacrificial lamb for the world. For He is the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world. (Revelation 13:8) Jesus is God in the flesh yet He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus is fully aware of all the situations and temptations we face and therefore He lives to make intercession for us. (Hebrews 7:26) Jesus bestows mercy on us daily, yet we find it difficult to show love and mercy to others.

As we see in scripture, Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He confused, defied and angered the “religious folk”. He loved the unlovely, the cast down, the forgotten, the people others often neglect. How can be say we love God and not love people? The core of Christianity is founded on relationship, God loved the world so He gave his only begotten son! He sacrificed His only Son just to restore the relationship that existed between mankind and God before the fall in the garden of Eden….

Focus on being an example of God’s love!

Let’s Pray!
Father in the name of Jesus I thank you for this word. I thank you for sacrificing your only begotten Son just to restore the relationship between the world and yourself. Thank you for loving us with an everlasting love and drawing us with loving kindness. Father I pray that your love will envelope everyone reading this. And for those that don’t know you that you would reveal yourself to them in a very real way. Let them experience your boundless love. Reassure them that they are important and have a divine purpose to fulfill. They are not an accident, but purposed. You desire a relationship with them and long to lead and guide them. Father you said in your word that if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe that He died for our sins and was raised again from the dead we will be saved. For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation. (Romans 10:10). Father, let thy will be done. In Jesus name. Amen.

  4. Wow! Confirmation on so many levels…you are right on point about all of us, striving to be Christ-like…this has been a personal journey for me as I realize that some people’s introduction to Christ is the “light” they see in me…it’s real and as Christians we should be on a mission to let the world know of His goodness, mercy and unconditional love for all of us! I am in agreement with this amazing word…you are awesome…I see you…continue to allow God to use you…He is doing a great thing in your life…so glad we’re family!!! Love you!

  5. Awesome. Awesome, Awesome word. This is such a blessing to me. I have been often classified as someone who wears my heart on my sleeve. You are too compassionate, they said…but I beg to differ. The word tells me that, “With loving kindness have I drawn thee”. The word also reminds me that (paraphrasing) If I see my brother or sister in need and I shut up my bowels of compassion, that the love of God is not in me.” I want to see God’s people win. I want to see God’s people flourish and I will do anything in my power (with godly wisdom) to make that happen. I love your post my sister, and I love your heart!!!
