Fear

In life and in our walk with God we encounter situations and people that make us fearful. We have a choice to either push past the fear or give into fear. Like in 1 Kings chapter 19, the prophet Elijah took a stand against King Ahab, Jezebel(Ahab’s wife) and the prophets of Baal. Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to see whose God would prove himself mighty(Read all about in 1 Kings 18-19) God revealed His power and proved that Baal was a false God. Elijah then slew the prophets of Baal as required by the law. King Ahab reported to Jezebel all that Elijah had done and this infuriated her. Jezebel made a promise to kill the man of God. Word spread (as it often does) and Elijah was made aware of the threat against his life. He then allowed that fear to overtake him. He paid more attention to the situation at hand instead of the God who had proved himself faithful on many occasions.

What are you hiding from? Is it the fear of man and their opinion? Is it the fear of failure? Is it the fear of facing certain things in your life? Fear is crippling and it will hinder the plan that God has for your life. It is imperative that you focus on the solution and not the problem.(I know it can be difficult) Fear had me bound for too long,I was overly concerned with the thoughts and opinions of others.I have realized that not everyone will agree with you or support you but that’s ok,love them anyway. I made a decision to push past the fear and move into my purpose. I stand on this scripture “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7) Do I still get afraid? Heck yeah. But I’m learning it’s not about me, it’s about Christ in me. He is the one empowering me to do whatever it is He has called me too. We have to remind ourselves of Philippians 4:13 “ I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me” Be encouraged today and make a decision to push past your fear.

Let’s pray
Father in the name of Jesus I thank you for life. I realize everything may not be as I would like it be but I am still grateful. I ask you to empower me to walk in the purpose that has been destined for my life. I thank you that you have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.I take authority over every plan, plot and scheme of the enemy. I thank you that greater is He that is within me, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4. I choose this day to push past my fear and walk in my purpose. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

Bleeding Heart

Quite often this term “bleeding heart” is used as an insult towards individuals who seem to be overly compassionate and forgiving. While in my opinion, we as Christians should be the most compassionate, merciful and loving people, within reason. We are not called to be doormats or unwise but we are called to be Christ like.

It baffles my mind to see Christians who are so callous, cold, unloving and judgemental, the polar opposite of Christ. We wonder why people are leery of God. Most of the apprehension stems from our poor representation of Him. Christ is the epitome of love. He came in the flesh to be the sacrificial lamb for the world. For He is the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world. (Revelation 13:8) Jesus is God in the flesh yet He is touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus is fully aware of all the situations and temptations we face and therefore He lives to make intercession for us. (Hebrews 7:26) Jesus bestows mercy on us daily, yet we find it difficult to show love and mercy to others.

As we see in scripture, Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He confused, defied and angered the “religious folk”. He loved the unlovely, the cast down, the forgotten, the people others often neglect. How can be say we love God and not love people? The core of Christianity is founded on relationship, God loved the world so He gave his only begotten son! He sacrificed His only Son just to restore the relationship that existed between mankind and God before the fall in the garden of Eden….

Focus on being an example of God’s love!

Let’s Pray!
Father in the name of Jesus I thank you for this word. I thank you for sacrificing your only begotten Son just to restore the relationship between the world and yourself. Thank you for loving us with an everlasting love and drawing us with loving kindness. Father I pray that your love will envelope everyone reading this. And for those that don’t know you that you would reveal yourself to them in a very real way. Let them experience your boundless love. Reassure them that they are important and have a divine purpose to fulfill. They are not an accident, but purposed. You desire a relationship with them and long to lead and guide them. Father you said in your word that if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe that He died for our sins and was raised again from the dead we will be saved. For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation. (Romans 10:10). Father, let thy will be done. In Jesus name. Amen.
